The Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), the largest public company providing information technology services in Brazil, continues to innovate and modernize Brazil's public sector. Recently, the company made a significant advance by adopting Wireshape's blockchain solutions. This initiative aims to test solutions related to Drex, a CBDC under development by the Central Bank of Brazil, and explore the potential of Web3 oracles and artificial intelligence (AI) applied to data.

Wireshape, Brazil’s first open blockchain network optimized for corporate solutions and regulated environments, stands out due to its compatibility with major Web3 tools, wallets, and smart contract programming languages. This facilitates accelerated innovation and cross-chain collaboration, both crucial for developing modern applications. The platform employs a Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus mechanism, ensuring superior performance, robust security, and greater sustainability. Associated with the Associação Catarinense de Tecnologia (Catarinense Technology Association – ACATE), renowned for fostering innovation and technological entrepreneurship, Wireshape benefits from a vast network of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and business opportunities with leading technology companies, as well as access to networking events and initiatives supporting research and development.
Through the Wireshape platform, Serpro gains access to the Drex Sandbox Program, a pioneering initiative that simplifies the development of Drex-related applications. Secure implementation on the Wireshape Floripa Testnet, combined with RPC access, enables Serpro developers to interact efficiently with smart contracts without requiring their own infrastructure, using Web3 wallets like MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet in a completely no-code experience. The program already involves prominent financial institutions and fintech companies such as Banco Inter, Banco ING, CERC, Matera, and Quero-Quero VerdeCard, among others.
“Wireshape was essential in ensuring all key configurations for conducting tests on Drex simulation contracts. Additionally, it played a crucial collaborative role with Serpro's Web3 team, assisting in publishing and testing the data validation oracles under development.” — Guilherme Funchal, Manager of the Superintendence of Intelligence and Development Support at the federal public company.
As next steps, Serpro is exploring the potential use of Wireshape’s artificial intelligence (AI) applied to data technology and Web3 oracle solutions within the blockchain network. Integrating AI with blockchain could revolutionize data analysis, offering deeper insights, more accurate predictions, and intelligent automation of processes. This synergy between AI and blockchain promises to optimize internal operations and improve public service offerings through more efficient and personalized solutions.
"It's been a pleasure collaborating with Serpro's talented team, jointly exploring the potential of Drex, Web3 oracles, and AI applied to data. We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration will bring to the modernization of Brazil’s public sector and look forward to future joint initiatives that will undoubtedly arise." — Cristiano Policarpo, founder and CEO of Wireshape.
Serpro’s adoption of Wireshape’s blockchain technologies marks a significant advance in Brazil's digitalization journey, with the Drex project being a primary focus. By exploring blockchain technology, Web3 oracles, and artificial intelligence frontiers, Serpro reaffirms its role as a leader in public-sector technological innovation and actively contributes to developing a safer, more efficient, and inclusive digital ecosystem.
